Vogel State Park
One of Georgia's oldest state parks, Vogel is set at the base of Blood Mountain. It features a 22-acre lake for swimming and pedal boating, along with multiple hiking trails and CCC-era history.
SCOUT LOGISTICS
Vogel is perfect for a "Base Camp" reunion. Reserve the group shelter for a whole-family BBQ. The 1-mile Trahlyta Lake Loop is flat and ADA-friendly, ensuring that even family members with limited mobility can enjoy the iconic waterfall views together.

Brasstown Bald
Georgia's highest peak at 4,784 feet. From the observation deck at the summit, you can see four states on a clear day. The visitor center offers fascinating exhibits on local ecology and history.
SCOUT LOGISTICS
The hike to the top is steep (1.1 miles), which can be a barrier for some. Use the shuttle service! It runs frequently and allows the entire reunion group of 15-50 to arrive at the summit simultaneously for that mandatory group photo with the Appalachian horizon.

Lake Nottely
A massive 4,180-acre lake with over 100 miles of shoreline. It’s a premier destination for boating, fishing, and lakeside swimming in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
SCOUT LOGISTICS
For a large reunion, renting multiple pontoon boats from Nottely Marina is the best way to keep everyone together. Pontoons are stable and can hold 10-12 people each, allowing your group of 40 to cruise in a "flotilla" to a private cove for a swimming afternoon.

Helton Creek Falls
A hidden gem featuring two beautiful waterfalls in a lush, wooded setting. The short, easy walk makes it one of the most accessible waterfall experiences in the region.
SCOUT LOGISTICS
The trail is less than half a mile, making it perfect for multi-generational groups. However, parking is extremely limited. If your reunion is 15+, carpool in 2-3 SUVs rather than taking a large van, as the access road is narrow and gravel.

Blood Mountain
The highest point on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. It offers challenging hikes and rugged beauty, steeped in Cherokee legend and natural splendor.
SCOUT LOGISTICS
This is the "challenge" activity for the younger, more active members of the reunion. While the fit cousins hike to the summit, the elders can enjoy the Byron Herbert Reece Farm & Heritage Center at the mountain's base. It keeps everyone in the same vicinity with varied activity levels.

Trackrock Archeological Area
A fascinating site featuring ancient petroglyphs carved into soapstone boulders by Native Americans. It’s a unique, quiet destination for those interested in history and mystery.
SCOUT LOGISTICS
This site is best for smaller breakout groups (10-15 people) who want a more contemplative experience. The interpretive signs are excellent, but the space around the carvings is small. Send one branch of the family here while another explores the nearby wineries.
